Artist Statement

My work is a reflection of my own ideological perspective as it relates to my past and present. It can be a personal diary, but I also find it very necessary to release myself from that which is known, combining, experimenting, and
appreciating the materials I use within the stream of consciousness in order to get to that wonderful element of surprise or the unintentional. While at times, dealing with serious matters, utilizing dark, even uncomfortable under tones, such as: Immigration, Abuse, Women's Health, Communism, Militaristic Dictatorships, Socialism, Sexism, Homophobia, Classicism, and Racism.
My work highlights the thin line on which we walk sometimes. Art can be the place that reflects life where we find the sweetness of beauty, as well as the bitterness of that which is ugly; and in
the process, creating art that navigates between the two and discovers the fine line that separates them.
